Access to innovation spaces like the StartUp!Lab is often limited by unclear booking processes, safety concerns, and a lack of user-centered digital infrastructure. To enable students to make full use of these valuable resources and foster innovation and entrepreneurship, a clear, accessible, and reliable digital solution is needed.

How

By conducting extensive stakeholder research through interviews with students, future lab staff and initiators of the project, we developed a comprehensive overview of all people involved. Furthermore we benchmarked best practices, created thorough journeys for all future users and tested concepts with iterative prototypes.

What

Maker Port is an software system with a student view that supports Students in booking and using lab resources, from rooms and equipment to workshops and events. It features onboarding with mandatory safety briefings, a personalized dashboard for active bookings, detailed usage instructions and learning ressources. An integrated admin tool enables staff to manage resources, track usage, and provide support.
